Hi, I’m Dr. Kate Patton, an Associate Veterinarian at Park Vet. I love partnering with pet owners and our incredible team to help pets live healthy, happy lives. My work includes preventive care, diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, and performing routine procedures such as spays, neuters, and dentals.
I’m originally from Illinois and earned my undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. After moving to the Triangle nearly ten years ago, I began my career in research at the Cystic Fibrosis Center in Chapel Hill. While working with animals in a research setting, I realized veterinary medicine was my true calling. I left research to work as a veterinary assistant, gaining hands-on experience while preparing for vet school.
I went on to attend NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where I also worked as an operating room assistant. That experience exposed me to a wide variety of procedures and some truly unique cases, but I ultimately found that my greatest passion is caring for cats and dogs. I graduated in May 2025 and have been proudly serving the Park Vet community since June.
My professional interests include surgery, dentistry, and the problem-solving involved in diagnosing complex medical cases. I also enjoy the fast-paced nature of urgent care and emergency medicine, and I’m always working to continue expanding my surgical and dental skills.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors, hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking, usually with my 80-pound adventure dog, Tugboat, by my side. At home, I’m also kept on my toes by Finny, a semi-feral orange cat who rules the house and occasionally joins us on neighborhood walks. I’m so excited to meet your pets and get to know the Park Vet community!
