End of Life Care for Pets in Durham
Your pet is an important part of your family, and we know that losing them can be a heartbreaking experience. At Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, we’ll be with you every step of the way as your pet ages. You may be faced with difficult decisions about your pet’s quality of life. Our compassionate veterinary team will help you understand your options and help you make a decision that is best for you, your pet, and your family.
Quality of Life Services
Throughout your pet’s life, our focus is to ensure they enjoy a high quality of life. As your pet ages or falls ill, they may experience a deterioration of their quality of life that may not be immediately evident. Our veterinary team will help you identify signs that your pet may be suffering and help you make decisions about how to best care for them.
Signs of a declining quality of life include:
- Your pet is hiding or sleeping in unusual places
- Your pet is avoiding their favorite activities
- Your pet is confused or irritable
- Your pet is not eating
- Your pet is drinking water excessively
Palliative Care Services
If your pet has a chronic condition or are experiencing pain in connection with aging, we are able to offer palliative care services to keep your pet comfortable as their disease progresses.
Our goal is to prevent your pet from suffering unnecessarily. We’ll work with you to decide upon a best course of action based on your pet’s needs.
These therapies may include:
- Pain Control
- Infection Control
- Nutrition Support
- Hydration Support
- Surgical Procedures

We will treat your pet with care and compassion no matter what you decide. If you would like to be present for the procedure, we’re happy to work with you to accommodate your request.
