Emergency Situations
It can be difficult to tell if your pet is sick or injured. Ultimately, it’s up to you as a pet parent – if you think there’s something wrong with your pet, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Our Durham veterinarians are here to help.
Bring your pet in to Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care if they have recently experienced any of the following conditions:
- Trauma or impact injuries – Many injuries aren’t visible to the untrained eye. If your pet has fallen, been hit by a car, or has taken some other impact, they should be evaluated by our veterinary team as soon as possible.
- Bite wounds – Not only can bites cause unseen damage under the surface, but it’s possible that disease can be spread from animal to animal. We can treat the wound itself while helping prevent infection.
- Difficulty or labored breathing –Is your pet breathing unusually quickly? Are they wheezing or breathing too hard? Breathing problems should be taken seriously. Bring them in to see our veterinary team so we can investigate.
- Repeated vomiting – If your pet has been vomiting repeatedly or uncontrollably, it’s possible they’ve ingested something they shouldn’t have. Vomiting can also lead to dehydration and other complications, so bring them in to see us right away.
- Exposure to toxins – Many things are toxic to pets, even if they’re safe for humans. If your pet has gotten into something they shouldn’t have, from human foods to pest control measures, they may need medical attention.
- Difficulty Urinating - If your pet is having difficulty urinating, and is unable to pass urine normally. This can be exceptionally uncomfortable for your pet and is a medical emergency.
Emergencies can happen at any time. The above list is just a few examples of emergencies we treat at Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care. Our Durham veterinarians are ready to help get your pet back on all fours.
If you are able, please give us a call before you bring your pet in to see us. We’ll be better prepared to treat you pet right away.
Care, compassion and commitment.
