Signs Your Pet May Have a Skin Problem

While pets can’t tell us what’s wrong, there are many signs you can watch for if you suspect your pet is suffering from a skin condition.

Our veterinarians in Durham are highly trained and fully equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of skin conditions. We’ll also help you care for your pet’s skin conditions at home to keep them happy and healthy for years to come.

If your pet exhibits any of the following symptoms, give our veterinary team a call:

Any of the above symptoms can indicate your pet is suffering from a dermatological issue.

Diagnosing Skin Conditions

At Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, we have a range of diagnostic tools available onsite to help our team understand what’s causing your pet’s discomfort.

These dermatological diagnostic tools include:

Once your pet’s results come back from our lab, we’ll provide comprehensive treatment to restore their health so they no longer suffer from skin conditions.

What to Expect During a Dermatology Exam

Just like when you bring your pet in for their general wellness exams, our Durham veterinarians will start with a physical exam. We’ll take a close look at your pet’s skin and fur, looking for things like dandruff, scabs, lesions, or other signs of irritation. After that, and depending on our findings, we’ll order diagnostic tests to help us understand the underlying cause of the irritation. We will discuss your pet’s lab results with you and help you pick the best course of treatment to keep your pet healthy and to prevent future issues.

We are here for both you and your pet. If you have questions about a recent dermatological exam, please feel free to give us a call at (919) 544-3758 or contact us online for more information.
