Our Doctors

Dr. Phillip McHugh, our Hospital Director, is originally from Montclair, NJ. He received his DVM from NC State and started at Park Veterinary Hospital in 1985. He and his wife Chris, an oncology nurse, are the proud parents of three children, Kelly, Megan, and Sean. In addition, they have an Aussie Mix named Scout. He especially enjoys doing soft tissue, cancer, reconstructive surgeries and dentistry. He also likes challenging medical cases. Currently, Dr. McHugh is Immediate Past President of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Nan Henderson,is a native of Louisville, KY, and received her DVM at Purdue University. Upon graduation in 1987, she moved to North Carolina and has been with Park Veterinary Hospital since 1988. She and her husband Andy have had many four-legged children, including (but not limited to) dogs, cats, horses, a goat, sheep,cows, and a donkey (also chickens, but they only have 2 legs each!). Dr. Nan and her dogs, Ziti and Casey, visit nursing homes and hospitals as a pet therapy team and love doing agility and obedience training and hiking. She enjoys all aspects of practice and is especially interested in dentistry and strengthening the bond between pets and their people, as well as geriatrics and chronic cases.

Dr. Beth Carroll, received her degree from NC State and has been practicing since 1993. She has a special interest in surgery and endoscopy, and is certified to do Penn HIP Evaluations. Dr. Carroll enjoys working with very small animals and is our resident guru for all sorts of "pocket pets" , from rabbits to ferrets to rats. She is also a really big fan of really big dogs, end enjoys teaching children about veterinary medicine at local schools. Dr. Carroll, her husband, and their two children, David and Elizabeth, share their home with a poodle-mix named Zack.

Dr. Laura Stolt, received her DVM at Michigan State University. She, her husband, daughter Bonnie, and sons Bradley and Benjamin, share their home with a mutt named Quincy and their newest puppy addition named Diggle. However, it is the cats, Ferdinand and Brulee, who rule the house. Dr. Stolt loves small animal medicine and especially enjoys behavioral issues.

Dr. Maia Broussard, is a graduate of the NC State college of Veterinary medicine, a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).She has worked in small animal hospitals for over 16 years, and animals have been important in her life for as long as she can remember. After graduation, Dr. Broussard completed CCRP certification with the University of Tennessee, and practiced in a referal rehabilitation and wellness hospital for over 1 year. In 2010, Dr. Broussard completed training and testing with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). She is also a memeber of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. When not working, Dr Boussard enjoys spending time with her dog, River, and cat, Leo.

Dr. Joan Hunt, obtained her DVM from  NC State College of Veterinary medicine in 2010.  She has interests in preventative medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery.  She is very excited to be a part of the Park Veterinary family.  Dr. Hunt is married and has two largs dogs, Dugan and Cameron.  She enjoys landscaping, sewing, walking on the beach, and watching movies while snuggled on the couch with the whole family.

Dr. Curtis Ostrom, is a native of North Carolina (originally from Burlington) and a 2007 graduate of NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.  After veterinary school Dr. Ostrom moved to New Jersey for advanced training through a 1-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery.  After the internship he turned to Raleigh and has been practicing in emergency medicine since 2008.  Dr. Ostrom's professional interests include internal medicine, emergency/critical care and the human-animal bond.  He shares his home with a sweet and slightly overweight cat name Cicero.
